#25 - The Section, Section.
This platform allows me to add sections to my newsletters. Maybe I should split my content?
My newsletter usually consists of several segments—cars, bikes, travel, food, film, TV music and cool shit that I have found on the internet.
The thing is, I don’t always want to mention all of those things in every newsletter that I produce; it’s exhausting and makes for a very long email. So, why don’t I take advantage of the sections element of the Substack platform? Each section is like a sub-division of the primary publication. So they are separate newsletters or podcasts managed within my newsletter. Each section will appear in a tab at the top of the main newsletter homepage, just like a magazine or blog.
So, for instance, I want to tell you about a cool new Porsche that is just about to come onto the market; I can put that story into the Auto section. If there’s a cool new TV show that I want to discuss, I can put it in the Watchlist section. I think you get a general idea. The thing is, I feel that I can produce a lot more content this way, and it will be laser-focused on the topic at hand.
At the end of the day, I want to build my email subscriber list and write a lot more than I do at the moment. The cool thing about sections is that you, dear reader, can decide if you want to read those specific emails. Yes, you can pick and choose which stories and articles you want to read. You can opt-in or out of receiving emails for each section on your substack account page at https://yourdomain.substack.com/account.
It has taken me some time to figure this newsletter thing out. I finally think I have found the best solution for getting my content out into the world. I do hope that you will stick around and maybe even join in with the conversation. I will post discussion threads on my Substack page. Think of it as a way to engage with me directly. Just don’t be a dick!
Until next time, adieu!

I experimented with sections, but I have decided to stick with the simple layout for now.
