So, it would probably seem counterintuitive to start a newsletter without working out the format in advance, wouldn't it?
Well, I did, but I have been busy working out a format for the newsletter. There's quite a lot of content that I want to get out into the world, a mixture of my sports writing and things that I find that I would like to share with my readers. An antidote to social media, let's call it "unsocial media", shall we?
Anyway, here is a rough template of what my newsletter will consist of each week, a framework within which I can work if you will.
#INTRO
A two to three sentence preamble, not unlike what I've just written.
#AUTO
Motor racing news and views, general car words.
#MOTO
Motorcycle racing news and views, general bike related words.
#WATCHLIST
TV & Movies that I have watched since the last newsletter, plus links to cool Youtube and Vimeo clips and movie trailers that I like the look of, maybe even the odd single sentence review. I might go with a rating of one to eleven, one being shit and eleven is one of the best movies I have ever seen.
#HARK
Music, Audiobooks and Podcasts that I have discovered.
#APEX
Some random news, a joke or an observation, plus things that I have bought or have seen when out and about. This is where I will list events such as races etc. for you to visit or watch over the weekend.
#ROAM
Travel stuff. Obvs.
#CONSUME
Food & Drink, Recipes etc.
#INTERWEBS
Links to things I think need sharing, plus the odd line or two about internet security and the like.
#OUTRO
A summary and look forward to the next issue.
This, by no means, is the final version of the format that the newsletter will adopt, it will be tweaked as we go along. I’ve decided to make a change to the publishing schedule too. The main (free) issue of my newsletter will go out on Friday mornings, twice a month. As I move towards the subscriber model, I will publish a Monday edition twice a month, but this will only be available to subscribers. It will be no less comprehensive than the free issue, but it will have a few whistles and bells attached to it.
So, until Friday, adieu!
